Pay as you go, explained simply
Pay as you go is a way of pricing. You are billed for how much you use, like water or electricity.
Many AI tools work this way. You pay for the amount of text, images or audio the AI handles for you.
This matters because your bill moves with your use. A light month costs little. A heavy month can cost much more.
For example, a tool may charge a small amount each time you send it a long document. Look at the price page first, and set a spending limit if the tool allows it.
On ITG Now, daily AI news stories sometimes cover how AI companies charge, such as pay as you go or a flat monthly plan.

Questions people ask about Pay as you go
Is pay as you go cheaper than a monthly plan?
It depends on how much you use. Light users often save money. Heavy users can pay more than they would with a flat fee.
Pay as you go vs subscription: what is the difference?
A subscription charges the same amount every month. Pay as you go charges by use, so the bill changes from month to month.
Can a pay as you go bill surprise you?
Yes, if you use a lot more than you planned. Set a spending cap or alert when the service offers one.
