Valuation, explained simply
A valuation is a guess at how much a whole company is worth. Investors and the company agree on the number when money comes in.
For a young AI company, the number is often based on hopes for the future, not on current profit.
This matters because a high valuation can make news, but it isn't cash in the bank. It also doesn't mean the product is good.
For example, investors who put money in at a stated valuation get a share sized to their money compared with that value.
On ITG Now, daily AI news stories may mention a company's valuation when it raises money or gets bought.
