RAM, explained simply
RAM stands for random-access memory. Think of it as your desk. The bigger the desk, the more you can work on at once.
When you turn the computer off, RAM is cleared. Files you want to keep go on your storage drive instead.
For AI, RAM matters when you run a model on your own computer. Too little RAM makes things slow or stops the model from loading.
On ITG Now, our free tool guides say how much RAM a tool likes to have before you install it.

Questions people ask about RAM
RAM vs storage: what is the difference?
RAM is fast and temporary, used while you work. Storage is slower and keeps your files even when the computer is off.
How much RAM do I need for local AI?
It depends on the model. Small models run in modest memory, and big ones need much more. Check the guide for each tool.
Does more RAM make a computer faster?
It helps when you run many things at once. If you already have enough, more RAM doesn't add speed.
