Structured output, explained simply
Structured output means the AI replies in a set shape. Instead of free text, it fills in named fields, like name, date and price.
It matters because programs need tidy answers. A messy paragraph is hard for software to read.
For example, you could ask an AI to read a receipt and give back the store, date and total in a fixed layout.
Many AI services have a setting for this, sometimes called JSON mode.
On ITG Now, our free tool guides mention structured output when a project needs the AI to return data in a set format.
