Frontier model, explained simply
The word frontier means the edge of what is possible. These models push that edge.
They are usually big and costly to build, so only a few companies make them. Their abilities change as new ones arrive.
When people say a lab released a new frontier model, they mean it aims to match or beat the best models on tests.
On ITG Now, our daily AI news stories and AI models page track which labs release new frontier models.
